Composer
Twenty years ago, musician Michael Wall observed dance teachers struggling nightly through stacks of CDs, seeking the perfect track—one with the ideal meter, tempo, and feel, and without awkward lyrics. This insight sparked the creation of Sound for Movement, an innovative platform providing an extensive, curated music library tailored specifically for dance educators and creators. With nearly 30 years of experience playing for diverse dance styles—from ballet and modern to Gaga and contact improvisation—Michael blends traditional instruments like piano, trumpet, and congas with modern synths and technology. A prolific composer, he produces hundreds of projects annually, collaborating globally with choreographers, filmmakers, and dance programs. Dedicated to fostering creative independence, Michael also teaches dancers to compose their own music, empowering the next generation of artists in the sound for movement community.
